Enrolled Agents of IRS Cleveland Given Details of 5-Year Plan
Recently the enrolled agents of Ken-Mar Tax have been notified of the large-scale effort of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to increase their workforce and update their technology in order to help enforce the implementation of new tax laws. A recent article in the Government Executive entitled “IRS Plans to Hire 1,700, Upgrade Outdated Technology,” reviews how acting chief of the IRS informed the National Association of Enrolled Agents of the detail of its efforts. Efforts include plans to hire around 1,700 full-time representatives and the indoctrination of a 5-year plan to replace over 140 computers and revise around 450 tax forms. The treasury department has set six strategic goals for the 5 year plan:
- Empower and enable all taxpayers to meet their tax obligations;
- Protect the integrity of the tax system by encouraging compliance through administering and enforcing the tax code;
- Collaborate with external partners proactively to improve tax administration;
- Cultivate a well-equipped, diverse, flexible and engaged workforce;
- Advance data access, usability and analytics to inform decision-making and improve operational outcomes; and
- Drive increased agility, efficiency, effectiveness and security in IRS operations.

Enrolled Agent or Tax Attorney Cleveland
So if you are hiring a tax professional to ensure your tax liability is as low as possible while taking advantage of the new tax reforms in a manner that will comply with updated IRS tax codes and aren’t sure if you should hire an enrolled agent or a Cleveland tax attorney, consider this: Enrolled agents typically charge considerably less for their services than a tax attorney while the enrolled agent status is the highest credential awarded by the IRS. All enrolled agents must complete 72 hours of continuing education every three years, ensuring enrolled agents (EAs) thoroughly understand updates to IRS codes. Enrolled agents, like tax attorneys and certified public accountants (CPAs), are unrestricted as to who they can represent, what types of tax matters they can handle, and which IRS offices they can represent clients before. EAs are the only federally licensed tax practitioners who specialize in taxation and also have unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS in Cleveland or any other IRS office.
